Welcome to The Arts Society Petersfield.

After the summer break (no lecture in August) the hall was practically full to capacity for Julian Richards' talk "A Potted History of Britain". Julian's engaging and relaxed delivery and his ability to fit a huge subject so succinctly into a one hour lecture was most impressive.

Our next lecture on 7 October will be given by the world famous clarinettist, Emma Johnson. Her talk "Tales from Vienna" will tell us how a veritable explosion of genius in music, art, architecture, science and politics was possible. We ask for a donation of £10 in cash to be paid on the day.

On 9 July, a large group travelled to the Isle of Wight for a visit to Osborne House. We enjoyed a sumptuou afternoon tea in the Orangerie before being taken round the house after closing time. It was a priviledge to be able to enjoy the beautiful interiors with just our fellow members. For some, the early evening ferry crossing back to Portsmouth spent on the open deck was equally enjoyable!

The next day trip will be on 23 September to the Royal Hospital Chelsea (and not to Hatchlands Park, as advertised, due to the death of Alec Cobbe).
